Femarin is a daily supplement for women intended to help women deal with the symptoms of menopause. It is mainly herbal in nature, and is supposed to promote hormonal balance and support for bone and heart health.

When taken properly, this supplement is supposed to help women comfortably enter the period of menopause without as much discomfort as women usually experience. Click here for our panel's list of the world's best supplements for menopausal support.

Femarin Review (UPDATED 2025)

This supplement consists of a blend of extracts from plants as well as other natural compounds, all of which are supposed to have a beneficial effect on women's hormonal and menstrual health. Some are specifically intended to treat individual symptoms of menopause, such as hot flashes, and others assist with antioxidants for cellular health and improved immune response. Other ingredients provide nutrients to help stave off other problems which women face when approaching menopause, such as cardiovascular problems or weakening bones.

Users are advised to take two pills per day, and as there are 60 pill per bottle, each bottle should last approximately a month. There are no signs that purchasing more than one bottle at a time will allow for any discounts, which is unusual, as this is a common practice in the nutrition industry.

Here are the ingredients listed on the nutritional information for Femarin:

Black Cohosh: A North American wild herb first used by Native Americans for its medicinal properties. It has long been prescribed as a homeopathic remedy for menstrual problems and menopause issues, including osteoporosis.

Trans-Resveratol: A compound found in grape skins, this product acts like an antioxidant and helps tissue health and elimination of free radicals in the blood. It is also said to have an effect on supporting proper hormone balance.

Licorice Root Extract: A derivative that contains isoflavones, a component which is said to be able to maintain proper levels of estrogen in the body.

Pros:

  • The ingredients are naturally-derived, and some are known for their ability to affect hormonal balance and hot flashes in women.

Cons:

  • Some of this product's ingredients are subject to question over their efficacy, and there are not enough customer reviews to know whether it works or not.

Gamma Oryzanol: This substance is derived primarily from rice bran oil, although it is found in wheat bran as well as select fruits and vegetables. It is primarily used for treating high cholesterol, but is also promoted for its supposed ability to treat menopausal symptoms by affecting hormones. Unfortunately, there is no clear evidence that this compound affects hormones at all, and not enough is known about it to know whether there are any side effects.

Dong Quai: An ingredient used in traditional Chinese medicine, often for treating menopausal symptoms. There are certain side effects from using it, however, including extra sensitivity to the sun, and there are concerns that it contains carcinogenic chemicals.

Business

Femarin is made by Ortho Molecular Products, a dietary supplement company based in Illinois. They have a line of different products that address digestive health, the immune system, cardiovascular health, and more. They claim that all of their products are made in a GMP-certified facility in Wisconsin, and that they are regularly audited for quality and safety standards.

This company was at the center of some controversy in 2012 when the FDA inspected their facility and sent them a warning letter, accusing them of several violations of the FFDC Act which regulates drugs and supplements for public safety. Many of their products were illegally marketed as drugs when they were not approved to be, and so they were ordered to change their marketing accordingly so they would not mislead customers.

There are very few reviews of Femarin. None can be found on the product's main website, and there were only a handful on Amazon. For a product to be considered trustworthy, potential customers need to read testimonials by other people who have used it, so that they can get an overall idea of whether the product works or not. Otherwise, they may be wasting their money.

Conclusion

The extracts and derivatives used in this supplement are a mixed bag, with some having some evidence to back them up, while others are either unproven or come with discomforting side effects. Not only that, but there are very few reviews of the product, making it impossible to tell whether a majority of menopausal women will find this supplement useful.
